She wore an....

Next week Nora is going to start water exploration at the Rec Center so she needed her first bathing suit. She got a size bigger than she usually wears so she could grow into it....but as you can see it fits perfectly...so...yeah. Mya will be going into Level III immediately following Nora's class. Saturday mornings just got a little more interesting!

Citizen of the Month

Back in November Mya got the Citizen of the Month award at her school (along with some other kids). We are really proud of her for all of her recent hard work; it can be a bit difficult to pay attention and be a good student when there are soooo many things you have to talk about with your friends.

Funny Feet

Nora got a toy from Santa for Christmas that she absolutley loves, she'll play with it all day. She doesn't however always like to play it with her hands. The other day I was making dinner and she was playing in the kitchen. I scooted the toy up to her so she could reach it, and she would push it away with her feet and then start playing it with her feet. I did this a few times and got the same result so I finally just let her go and she played happily (with her feet) until I was done. She does some funny things.

It Finally Snowed

We finally had some snow for Mya to go out and play in. I wish we would have had it for Christmas...
Here are some pictures of Mya helping Dad shovel and enjoying the snow in the back yard.

Nora is starting to sit up by herself. After she realizes what she is doing though she laughs and falls over. It's fun to watch Mya play with her, I never knew Nora would turn into a real live toy for Mya; but that is exactly what has happened. The only time Mya really gets upset is when Nora spits up on her (which happens often) and when she pulls her hair or tries to rip her glasses off (which happens even more). Nora is a little bully; she likes to attack us when we get near by pulling our hair or digging her fingers in our cheeks. But on the other hand she is a little sweetheart. She loves to cuddle and will lay curled up on our shoulder for as long as we will let
her. Her new habit is to play with my face and swat at my hair as she falls asleep for a nap or the night. Mya would 'pet' her blanket or the bottle at this time and now Nora 'swats'. It's fun to figure out what things they are similiar about.

Sweet Potatoes

Nora tried sweet potatoes today. The first bite was met with some hesitation, but she quickly got over that. She got so excited that she ripped her bib off in an attempt to eat the food off of it and then as the spoon came closer to her she would begin flapping her arms...usually hitting the spoon which made an even bigger mess. She likes them though which is an improvement over bananas; those are NOT her favorite.

New Game

Mya invented a new game to play with Nora which involves a Bumbo and a foam tube. Mya basically pulls Nora around the living room floor...which Nora LOVES! It is a great form of entertainment for both of them.

New Year's Resolution

The Stammen Family has joined the blogging world. It is one of our New Year's Resolutions to keep this up...we'll see how well we do. We are very excited to share our stories with friends and family. Enjoy!

This year for the New Year we had a small group of friends over for the 1st Annual Stammen New Year's Game Night. Contestants were Ben & Amy Botkin, Rob & Sarah Davis, Dan & Michelle Subler, and Joel & Rebeccah Stammen. The first round of bowling went to the Stammens, and after 4 rounds of Family Feud, the Stammens once again were victorious. After cleaning up with an intense battle of Apples to Apples, the Stammens were offically declared the winners and stayed home with the trophy. Next year we are looking foward to more contestants, different games, and a potential dress-up theme for increased fun!
